Operating at an optimum level is what drives a Human Service Provider to help people and/or the organizations they serve. The human service worker has a special and specific skill set to understand individuals and group dynamics. Continuing education and knowledge seeking is the hallmark of a good Human Service Professional.

Competence must be exhibited in the areas of: human systems and organizations, conditions conducive to highest functioning, identifying interventions, ability to analyze and implement strategies, consistency in application of appropriate interventions, excellent planning and processing of services.

The effective professional will combine the above attributes with excellent communication abilities. The goal is happier, healthier individuals within and without of healthier organizations. They will deliver services within a variety of settings either within public policy, or a public setting.
